Stars of cinema turn out to celebrate the Nepal premier of 14 Peaks: Nothing is Impossible

A galaxy of stars turned out to support the premier of 14 Peaks in Nimsdai’s home country of Nepal. 

VIPs and Government dignitaries rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry at a very special premiere of 14 Peaks. Rajesh Hamel, the most popular and influential actor in Nepalese cinema attended, along with actors Indira Joshi, Sahana Bajracarya and Namrata Shrestha, singer Ani Choyang Dolma, Rohit Shakya and Trisala. The British Ambassador Her Excellency Nicola Pollitt attended, as did the Finland Ambassador, His Excellency Pertti Anttinen, and the UAE Ambassador His Excellency Saeed Hamdan Al Naqbi. The Shadows singer, Swapnil Sharma, attended, the singer who is a childhood friend of Nimsdai, created the anthemic Himal Ko (Son of Mountains,) which features over the end credits of the film. The video features Nimsdai and his team dancing and racing through the Himalayas to the party beat.

Earlier in the day, Nimsdai met the Prime Minister, His Excellency Sher Bahadur Deuba, at a special meeting and presented him with a special signed copy of his book, Beyond Possible. The tourism minister and foreign ministry officials were all present to celebrate the screening in the evening, which was kindly organised by Rajan Shrestha and sponsors from Hama Steel. 

Nimsdai met everyone on the red carpet, and everyone got a photo together – while press and videographers captured the moment. Social media blew up around the event with people posting messages of support and encouragement.

Friends, family and long-time sponsors and supporters joined the party at QFX Cinema at Labim Mall in Lalitpur, Kathmandu. A press conference was held before the screening with Nimsdai and Elite Exped co-director, and 14 Peaks team member, Mingma David Sherpa. Then guest arrived for a drinks reception at the open-air bar, before being given popcorn and drinks to enjoy with the film.

As the end credits rolled, the audience cheered and gave a huge standing ovation. Nims and Director Torquil Jones, then answered questions from the crowd. Rajesh Hamal said 14 Peaks had brought ‘joy’ to the screen with its depiction of Nepal and it’s climbing community, with many others echoing the sentiments that the film was a proud moment for the country and her proud Sherpa and climbing community. The Q&A had such an overwhelming response that Nims and Torquil were answering questions for around two hours. Nimsdai held a special auction of his book ‘Beyond Possible’ to raise funds for the Nimsdai Foundation and the Big Mountain Cleanup. 

Guests then enjoyed a drink reception and canapes at the open-air bar, as the party moved into the evening.
